Tuesday:
TRAVELING DAY:
We accomplished our goal today, which was to reach the Alabama line.  We're just across the border, having arrived near Mobile, Alabama, at 3:30 Central Time.

SERENDIPITY:  While on I -10 I noticed a sign National Naval Aviation Museum /Pensacola  www.navalaviationmuseum.org and within about 30 seconds we had pulled off to check this out.  We both just assumed the museum would be within a couple of miles of the sign...well...every few miles, there was another sign indicating the museum was up ahead.  The 'couple of miles' turned into 18 extra miles one way x 2 = 36 miles.  But, that's the fun of what we're doing...we're not on a schedule, and for us, it's all about a little side trip now and then.

The museum brochure said The Blue Angels train there two days a week, also.  The show is open to the general public, and they usually interact with the viewers afterwards, signing autographs and such.   Our timing for that was off a few hours.  Nevertheless, we enjoyed the museum very much.

We are settled in here in Alabama at Azalea Acres RV Park.  After a little trip to a local Piggly Wiggly (yes, they do exist!) ...remember Driving Miss Daisy? we decided to stay over for a day, do laundry plus a little cooking and just enjoy not traveling for one day.

UPDATE:  On I-10 we passed what we figured was a controled burn.  There was a smoke warning but really it wasn't enough to affect our driving visibility.  We saw on the news tonight that the fire is spreading about 5 miles per hour and that I-10 is totally closed until at least Wednesday morning.  We did see a number of fire trucks rush by us...so now we know.  Hope and pray no one gets hurt and it is gotten under control soon.  We're about 30 miles beyond this all, and don't feel we are in any danger here.
