Tuesday Evening:
San Francisco:
This was a fun one for sure. We drove over an hour to get there...(actually crept over the first few miles out that bumpy 'lane' called a road leaving our RV Park)...eventually ending up at the Golden Gate Bridge. Before we crossed it, though, we drove to the top of the mountain next to it, to some overlooks. Never having been there, I didn't realize you could actually look down on the bridge from this near-by vantage point. There is the remains of a Civil War Era Fort up there and some other historical formations. Photos following.
After we crossed the Golden Gate Bridge...we headed out to eat (always high on the list!) at the Fisherman's Wharf. We chose Sabella's, if you are familiar with the Wharf, and we both really enjoyed it. They brought out more food than we expected and they were a class act. We took a little time to stroll the area and found a WW II Sub on display and a Liberty Ship, of that same era, along the dock out back.
Then on we drove to see the Cable Cars (remember Rice-A-Roni?) and drive some of those famous San Francisco city hills. I think I saw most of it through my camera lens, but the results were worth it for me. I discovered San Francisco has potential to be a very 'paintable' city, and I hope to some day have the time to settle in and see what I can do with the photos taken today.
We finished up with some shopping at a plaza on the way home....such an interesting day out for us both. I think this would be worth returning to again, should we have the opportunity.
It appears that it is, for all intents and purposes, difficult to send comments through the blog...our appologies for that...nevertheless we have received some really nice feedback by email. Thanks for all the nice comments and for keeping in touch! patwietholter@gldstr.com
