Friday:
Civil War Reenactment/Red Bluff/CA
Red Bluff,CA is pretty much a western rodeo town....where you see bowlegged cowboys at the grocery store and rodeo ads posted as a local attraction...our RV Park is even called 'Durango'....where you can find a saddle on a bail of hay in the front office. But our choice of something to do wasn't cowboy oriented at all...but a Civil War Reenactment. We noticed an ad at the main office that a battle was being scheduled for this weekend so we headed over to the site to check it out. Again, the weather was breezy but beautiful and we enjoyed walking around the encampment and chatting with many of the super friendly participants who were eager to explain all about the event and share interesting Civil War era historical info with us.
Later on the Civil War participants marched around our RV park, staying for an ice cream social afterwards, so people could ask them about the gathering. Tomorrow is the battle...we thought about staying an extra day for this event, but decided that since we had been there today, we would just move on tomorrow...there is always so much to see and do everywhere...and it's all good.
