Sunday:
Yosemite National Park/Bike Path
Since we have no computer connection to locate a church, our next best option for church this Sunday was a TV service.
The Drive in: Both days, the weather has been just right for rolling down our windows to hear the roar of the water as we drive into the park along the Merced River Rapids.
Bike Ride: The car was our choice to see the park the first day. Today we wanted to experience it from a different perspective…up close and personal….so we grabbed our bikes and headed along one of the park's most used bike paths for a ride out to Mirror Lake. Pine trees lined the pathway and provided intermittent shade that fell over the road all along the ride….that, coupled with the cooling effect of the rapids next to us…formed a perfect air conditioning effect to counteract the sun’s heat. We found ourselves continually pulling over to take photos of the extraordinary scenery. Like kids in a candy store…there was always just one more scene needing to be photographed. The scent of the pine forest was so heady today it rivaled Florida’s orange blossoms. Another deer stopped along the bike path to graze, with no fear of humans.
The picnic area at the beginning of the path was a family picnic area which seemed to be an international mixing pot…so many languages going all at once. In my opinion, that was one of the perks of this location. I think it's always fun to ask a few questions of people from other parts of the world.
We ate at the park’s cafeteria yesterday, and found the food to be good, so we rode our bikes over there for a little lunch again today. We biked to our hearts content this afternoon…then packed up and headed back to the RV. This has been a banner destination and I feel a little reluctant to say good by to Yosemite,...but then tomorrow we have plans to travel on. (click on Yosemite National Park for photos)
