HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND/WE HEARTILY THANK ALL WHO SERVED IN THE MILITARY AND MAY GOD BLESS AMERICA
Day trip to Mt. Rainier National Park
The drive took 10 hours today...we ended up traveling around 250 miles to tour this grand mountain range.  Once we arrived at this national treasure, new views surprised us both at every turn...it just didn't stop until we were through the whole park.  The only disappointment was that Mt. Rainier's Peak itself was covered in mist, but there was so much more to see that we soon forgot about this.  Since there had been a few days of rain, the waterfalls were all running strong...some of them splashed over our car...nature's free car wash.  Actually, the park workers were busy cleaning up a mud slide, so we changed our planned route within the park, not wanting to wait for that.  As at Mt. Shasta, The Mt. Rainier Visitor Center had snow up to the roof.  We paused for a light lunch at the center, checked out their Gift Shop, a few nice displays, and were on our way.  At the center, we noticed a group of cross country skiers enjoying the thick snow, and a Cascade Fox crossed the road in front of us as we pulled onto the road. (see photos)  We finished the trip with a nice meal at Bonefish Grille near our RV park.  Nice treat after all that traveling today.  We'll miss this area....but travel we must.
