Saturday:
Denali National Park and Preserve/Mt. McKinley
Yeah! We made it to Alaska...to Denali...and to Mt. McKinley...actually as close as you can get at the park...it's still 30 miles in the distance! And what a day it was! Our bus driver said it was the clearest day in the park so far this year. It seems The Lord rolled out the red carpet for everyone today and we all had a party. A ranger told us only 16 % of their visitors actually get a good view of Mt. McKinley and the view today was a doozy. So we clicked away...and took as many pictures as time would allow...I have been editing them for a couple of hours, but it's worth it...it's a once in a lifetime experience for us.
I was focused on seeing the scenery when the tour started, anticipating some wildlife now and then....but honestly, I think the wildlife stole the show. Everyone became as animated as kindergartners when wildlife was spotted.....the bus would screech to a stop to let the group observe the animals whenever one was seen....whether bear, moose, elk, caribou, goats or sheep...even if they were only dots on the horizon. We were in effect, in a safari bus traveling through a zoo without walls and the 8+ hour tour was so pleasant, you hardly noticed the dust and the mountainous hairpin turns. How amazing to see this area of the world left so nearly like our Creator formed it minus a woolly mammoth or two. I believe Denali National Park met all our expectations and far more. God certainly deserves high applause for what we all were privileged to see today!
Lots of photos on the right under Alaska!
