Sunday:
Valley Assembly of God/Healy/Alaska
The congregation was small....nevertheless...wherever two or more are gathered in His Name, there is love.  Their regular pastor doubled as a fireman and was called out to a fire before the service began.  So I counted 14 remaining , including a baby, 3 other children and the visiting pastor, and 4 of us were visitors...but it was intimate, genuine and real and one of my favorite places of worship yet...it isn't always in the numbers.  Usually we leave once the service is over, but this time we lingered and drank coffee and munched on home baked cookies.    We became aware that the other visiting couple were camped right behind us here in Denali RV Park.  We enjoyed talking with them and I need to mention that the two photos of the moose twins are loaned to us by them.  The story is, the mother and her babies wandered into the visitor center and hung around for a while...and he was close enough and able to get these great photos....so thanks Harley and Regina....great photos...I couldn't resist sharing them today!!

This afternoon we attended a sled dog demonstration offered without addtitional cost by Denali National Park.  Denali hosts this presentation three times a day, seven days a week, bringing bus loads of people in from their visitor center each time.  These sled teams are used during the winter as a resource for the rangers to tend to the park, so these are working dogs.  They tell us dog sledding works much more dependably and efficiently than man made vehicles during the Alaskan winters.  The dogs are born for sub zero temps and found today's 60s temps to be an uncomfortable 'heat wave'.  We watched them run with a sled on wheels.  We were free to approach and pet them...in fact they encourage people to interact with them...it's good interaction that conditions them for training, they say.

So it was another nice day all around.  Thank you Denali...we'll both take many treasured memories away with us.
Photos found under Alaska on right...remember you can click on the picture to enlarge.
