Tuesday:
Rainy day in Talkeetna. An ad about The Flying Squirrel Bakery www.flyingsquirrelbakery.com caught Stan's eye so he decided to take me there for lunch.  This restaurant is tucked away in the woods about 2 miles from us, so off we drove to see what it was all about.  I came home with two huge apricot whole grain muffins for breakfast tomorrow.  Their food was earthy and delicious.  Many of their breads were baked in a wood burning oven fueled by local birch.  There were no walls between the cafe and the bakery area and she was a busy bee.  She handled the oven much like a pizzeria, using a large wooden paddle to take the bakery items in and out.

Another trip into town just to sight see gave me some time to capture their town theme of moose, which explains the rest of the photos.

I enjoy an occasional rainy day...it slows the pace, settles the dust and cools the temps...it gives you time to reflect and enjoy life at a different pace...I think it's good for the soul.
