Sunday:
Change Point Church/Anchorage/Alaska
Today we joined a non-denominational 'mega-church' for worship and felt just as 'at home' with this large body of Christians as we have in the small groups. I noticed on their web site www.changepointalaska.com that they have quite a staff of Ministers and now have an opening for an Evangelistic Minister. This morning they had a great teaching from their Pastor of Teaching Ministries. I find one of the mega churches strong characteristics is insightful teachings. We usually come away with something very practical and applicable.
Seated in front of us was a couple that were originally from Columbus, Ohio. They were familiar with our immediate area. We've met a number of people in Alaska that have actually been to our village of New Knoxville or know some of our citizens! Two days ago, while waiting for 'the tow man', a tour group stopped at our overview....seeing our Ohio license plates, they inquired about our specific location. They said they were all from Celina! We found we had friends in common with them! It was a comforting feeling....having vehicle issues so far from home....that God brought a little sense of moral support from Ohio to us. Disney was right....it is a small world after all.
After lunch at Wendy's we checked out the Fred Meyer's nearby, and as we drove back, also a huge and well put together Antique Shop about a block from where we are staying. I may walk back over there and look around some more after posting this....there were rooms and rooms to explore.
