Tuesday:
Yukon Motel and
Restaurant/Teslin/Yukon/CanadaWe drove about 100 miles today without seeing much in the way of population. Today’s roads were pretty good although things are dusty and dry in this area. We checked out our wi-fi in the campground restaurant and the gift shop….walking across the street to the grocery store is evidently deemed “going into town”. Other than a couple of terrain shots, the photos today are mostly for the ladies….Canadian shopping.
Little story: At a rest stop, we noticed a couple with a flat tire on
one of their motorcycles. Stan tried to
help them out, but they actually ended up having it towed 100 miles back to
Whitehorse to replace the tire anyway.
While waiting for the tow truck, we all happened to have lunch here at
the camp restaurant, so we had a chance to learn more about their story. This man and his wife (from Washington State)
are just on vacation for a few weeks.
They started out with a third person (from Oregon) but he was injured
and had to fly home……the injuries were caused when he fell asleep on his
Harley. They said one of the worse parts
other than the broken bones was that the mosquitoes were eating him alive while
he lay in the grass waiting for help!
You have to be here to appreciate that statement. As the joke goes, here…..mosquitoes aren’t as
bad here as people say .…they’re worse.
