Friday:
San Diego/Sightseeing with Anja and Greg
After brunch in Carlsbad and a certain amount of deliberation the four of us decided to drive to San Diego. Greg drove us up in the mountains around hairpin turns to see some multimillion dollar homes in La Jolla. Then we went to Mount Soledad Veterans Memorial www.soledadmemorial.com for a beautiful scene overlooking a vast panorama of the San Diego area, including the Pacific shoreline....Greg even pointed out Mexico in the distance. And by the way, how fitting of them to take us to a hill crowned with a cross on Good Friday!
We went to Seaport Village. www.seaportvillage.com next and had a wonderful afternoon in the sun, checking out the shops and listening to street entertainers and eating Ben and Jerry's. There were people flying kites, a statue of The Kiss (photo below) and a monument honoring Bob Hope (which plays an ongoing recording of one of his USO monologues) by the Midway Aircraft Carrier. After a little side trip to Costco, we returned to Anja and Greg's where we feasted on Ravioli and relaxed after a packed day of touring the San Diego area. I'm still fascinated with that view! Great day together with family!
